2010 Jaguar C-X75 Concept

Hailed as the perfect model to celebrate Jaguar’s 75th anniversary in 2010. The Jaguar C-X75 was the classic concept car in both its head-turning design and technological innovation. It used an aluminium chassis, meaning overall the car weighs 1,350 kg. It was also an electric car with four motors driving each wheel. Tiny gas turbines as range extenders in place of traditional combustion engines. The turbines were linked to two generators and could either recharge the lithium ion batteries or drive the four electric motors. Later Jaguar decided to drop the concept project because of the financial restraints it was going through. (eurocarblog.com)

Update: 2013 Jaguar C-X75 Concept to be released in 2013. This is a limited edition car, only made as many as 250 units. The Jaguar C-X75 Concept is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder petrol powerplant, combined with twin 195bhp/295lb ft electric motors and 19kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Batteries used in C-X75 is the best battery in the world capable of producing more than 300kW (rated power PHEV pack). This engine is controlled by a 7-speed automatic transmission advanced users. With gasoline fuel, this engine can generate power of 502 bhp at 10,000 rpm, 277lb ft at 3000-7000 rpm (est). If petrol combined with twin 195bhp/295lb ft electric motors, so this engine is capable of producing 850 bhp and peak torque of 1000 Nm. With this engine support, 2013 Jaguar C-X75 Concept is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100mph in less than 6.0 seconds and reach top speed of 220 mph. Update 2015: Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that the C-X75 supercar concept will take a starring role in the latest Bond film, SPECTRE, including a car chase through the streets of Rome alongside James Bond’s Aston Martin DB10. One of the key mods is said to be the removal of the car’s complex hybrid system, with one of Jaguar’s venerable supercharged 5.0-liter V-8s being squeezed in instead. (motorauthority.com)
