1962 Ferrari Pininfarina 400 Superamerica Cabriolet

The 400 Superamerica had a smaller 4.0 L Colombo V12 engine, but produced as much power as its predecessor, the 410 Superamerica which was powered by a Lompredi V12. The engine had an enlarged four-liter capacity and could produce 340 horsepower.

It debuted in 1959 as 410 production ended, and was available as a coupe, spider, or cabriolet with custom Pinin Farina bodywork. Each cabriolet was fitted with a factory hard-top, a low grille and a large hood scoop.  Four-wheel disc brakes were a new addition. Out of the twenty-five 400 Superamericas, there were only 6 cabriolets.

This black unit is one of the 6 "short wheel-based" 400 cabriolets ever built by Pininfaria. Sold in a 2010 RM auction for $3.5 million, the highest price fetched by a Ferrari Superamerica. (ultimatecarpage.com)
