Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16V Evolution I and II (1989-90)

Built as a competitor to the BMW M3 Sport Evolution, Mercedes-Benz debuted the 190E 2.5-16V Evolution I in 1989. Only 502 units were built for homologation in compliance with DTM rules. A PowerPack option engineered by AMG was available to boost the regular 2.5-16V engine's 202 bhp by an addition 30 bhp to 232 bhp.

In 1990, the 190E 2.5-16V Evolution II made its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. The 2.5 liter 16 valve inline four engine of the EVO II, as the car was known for short, developed an even higher output of 235 hp. The car, weighing some 1300 kilograms, accelerated from standstill to 100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds and reached a top speed of 250 km/h. 5-speed manual. An obvious modification to the Evolution II is a radical body kit with a large adjustable rear wing, rear window spoiler, and Evolution II 17-inch wheels. Again, only 502 unit of the EVO II were made.

These cars are now extremely rare in the collectors cars market place. Very few, if any have returned for resale as these cars are now clearly in the hands of long term collectors or are in personal storage. (wikipedia & classicdriver.com)

2011 Honda EV-STER Concept

More suited to top-down fun in the city than the open road, 
the EV-STER Concept is a rear-wheel drive electric roadster with a pure electric drivetrain. 
It is powered by an electric motor and a 10kWh lithium-ion battery drivetrain 
that sends all the power to the roadster concept’s back wheels. 
It can be fully charged in 3 hours using a 200V outlet.
The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint takes 5 seconds. Top speed is 160 km/h (100 mph).
The adoption of carbon materials made it possible to reduce the vehicle weight contributing 
to the vehicle's high driving performance. Easy-to-operate twin-lever steering.
Based on positive feedback, Honda has already decided 
to green-light the project and put it into production. 
And could offer a more conventional gasoline engine in addition to the electric powertrain.
