1969 AMC AMX California 500 Special Edition

Only 32 Special Edition AMXs were built for AMC dealers in California
to commemorate the Riverside 500 race in 1969.
The California 500 Special model has engines options
ranged from a potent 290ci, 225hp V8 up to a fire breathing 390ci, 315hp V8.
The 390 made 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds. Top speed 122 mph (196 km/h).
A four-speed manual was standard but an option three-speed
'Shift Command' automatic was also available.
The Limited Edition model also came with several options that included
"Trendsetter Sidewinder" sidepipes and brass plaques on the hood blisters.
Since1969, AMX models came with new body colour options of
three 'Big Bad' colors: neon brilliant blue (BBB), orange (BBO), and green (BBG).
Shown here is the "Big Bad Green" option.
