In 1957, Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti began working on a design for a second series BMW 507. The prototype was built on the chassis of a BMW 507 (number 70184). The production of the body, strong at 1950s US tastes, was done by Sergio Scaglietti, the assembly was at the Turin body building firm Vignale. Unlike the curved lines of the production model, the 3200 Michelotti Vignale a much more angular shape with straighter lines and indicated fins. Power came from the BMW 507's V8, which with just 150 hp was capable of a top speed of 127 mph. In 1959, this one-off design was exhibited at the Turin Auto Show for the first time. After a few ownership changes BMW Classic brought it back to Munich in 2004. The design was never taken up though. (de.wikipedia.org & conceptcarz.com)
