1968 Ferrari 330 GT Vignale Shooting Brake

This one-off special Ferrari (chassis #7963) was based on a second generation Ferrari 330GT 2+2. The original car was delivered in December of 1965 to Belgian market dealer, Garage Francorchamps. The first owner of this car was recorded simply as, “Desy”, then in 1967 the car was purchased by American Ferrari importer “Coco” Chinetti. Chinetti teamed on the concept for the one-off estate car with famed Hollywood movie-poster illustrator Bob Peak before commissioning Vignale. The two Yanks had reportedly planned to launch a business offering custom-designed Ferraris, but it wasn't meant to be. This shooting brake made its debut at the 1968 Turin Motor Show. The car shares virtually no 330 GT panels, save for a section of each door and the windscreen. It would be Alfredo Vignale's last work. A few days after selling his factory in 1969, he died in a car crash.

This car is powered by a 3.9 L V12 engine with an output of 300 hp.

From 1998 to 2000, the car was restored, repainted in the original colour of British Racing Green with yellow-bronze roof. The restored interior demonstrated Vignale's sophistication: leather, wood, thick carpeting.and genuine leather seats. In 2011, Jay Kay, British singer and lead singer of Jamiroquai, became the new owner of the car. (avtomaniya.com, forza-rossa.over-blog.com, classicdriver.com & coachbuild.com)

In recent years, the car was given a new, more conventional silver paint scheme. It will be offered without reserve at RM Sotheby's Peterson Automotive Museum Auction on Dec. 8, 2018. (autoblog.com)
