Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series (2013-14)

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a front-engine, 2-seater luxury grand tourer automobile developed by Mercedes-AMG of German automaker Mercedes-Benz and is the first Mercedes-Benz automobile designed in-house by AMG. The car, which has gull-wing doors, is the successor to the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and is described by Mercedes-Benz as a spiritual successor to the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. SLS stands for "Sport Leicht Super" (Sport Light Super).

The SLS AMG CoupĂ© Black Series, Inspired by the SLS AMG GT3 race car, is a supercar version of SLS AMG CoupĂ© and is the fifth car to earn the badge, after SLK, CLK, SL and C. The transformation from SLS GT to SLS Black Series is extensive, with no fewer than 17 significant enhancements. The Black Series treatment is only available on 2 door vehicles. Fewer than 200 made their way to the United States.

The vehicle is 70kg (150lb) lighter than the standard model. This is accomplished by increased use of carbon fibre in body panels, mechanical components, and the spaceframe. Further, a switch from steel to titanium for the exhaust reduces weight by 13 kg (29 lb). The use of lithium-ion battery reduces weight by 8 kg (18 lb). The wheels are featherweight forged aluminum matte black wheels (19x10-in front, 20x12-in rear).

The AMG 6.3 L V8 engine generates 622 hp at 7,400 rpm and accelerates the most dynamic SLS of all time to 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds. Its output has been raised by 59bhp from the base model. Seven-speed double clutch, rear-wheel drive. Top Speed is 196mph (315 km/h).
