2009 Bertone Mantide

The Bertone Mantide was a design study based on the Corvette ZR1 that draws equal inspiration from modern aerospace and the world of Formula One. It was first unveiled in 2009 over a series of YouTube videos known simply as Project M. Due in part to its highly advanced aerodynamics and significant weight savings, the Bertone Mantide was 220 lb (100 kg) lighter than the ZR1. Not only did it deliver greater speed and stability, but also more efficiency and therefore lower fuel consumption. and had better performance figures than the ZR1. Using carbon fibre for all body panels, interior trim, seats and even the wheels, the overall vehicle weight had been reduced by 100 kilos. Powered by a 638 bhp (476 kW; 647 PS) supercharged 6,162 cc (376.0 cu in) V8 engine. The result was a staggering 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 351 kph (217mph). Two copies were made.
