1971 Ford GT70

Designed by Len Bailey, the Ford GT70 was the direct descendent of the famous Ford GT range of cars which won the Le Mans 24 hours four consecutive years running. It was a mid engined two seater sports car which had a steel fabricated box frame chassis and a one piece fibreglass body. Powered by a 2.6 litre V6 cologne engine with a 5 speed ZF transmission. It was intended for rallying and had competed in several international rallies but with WRC rule changes and the arrival of the Escort made the GT70 redundant. Ford decided not to continue the production to concentrate on the development of the Escort.
