1955 & 1960 Golden Sahara by George Barris

Originally it started out as a 1953 Lincoln Capri owned by George Barris, the man behind the Batmobile in the 1960s TV series "Batman". The interior of the car featured a TV set mounted in the dash, a hi-fi radio mounted below the TV, a tape recorder installed between the driver and passenger in the front seat, and a complete cocktail bar with its own refrigerator unit installed in the back seat. Golden frieze material and white Naugahyde covered the seats, dash, and side panels. A shag rug with two-inch padding made the floor of the car luxuriously soft to the feet. All interior trim were gold-plated.

In 1960, the second version of the Golden Sahara won Best Custom and Best Display at the

first annual National Champion Custom Car Show. (kustomrama.com)
