Chevrolet Camaro SS 396 - First Generation (1967-69)

First generation of the Camero.
The SS performance package consisted of a 350 or 396 cu in V8 engine and chassis upgrades for
better handling and to deal with the additional power.
It featured non-functional air inlets on the hood, special striping, and SS badging.
34,411 units of the SS version were built.
The L35 396ci V-8 was a late edition, not added to the options list until November 1966.
An even more powerful L78 396 with 375 horsepower later became available.
The car’s smooth, coke-bottle styling was such a hit that rival Ford employed a very similar design for the
European Mark III Cortina sedan, and even Aston Martin adopted cues for its 1970s V-8 super car.
